Alex Brueggeman (he/him/his)

Alex Brueggeman is an anthropologist, storyteller, and inclusion strategist committed to fostering community, equity, and inclusion through art and creativity. He graduated from Howard University with a BA in Anthropology and a minor in Caribbean Studies.

Alex's professional journey began with the U.S. National Park Service as a field archaeologist, focusing on 18th and 19th-century enslaved populations in the mid-Atlantic. He then transitioned to the non-profit sector, conducting ethnographic research and providing resources to Afro-diasporic and Latinx immigrant communities in Columbia Heights, D.C., and Flushing, Queens.

In the advertising industry, Alex excelled at renowned creative agencies like 72andSunny, FCB Global, and Arts & Letters Creative Co. as a leader in DEIB and inclusion strategy. Leveraging his anthropology background, he developed innovative organizational and brand strategies rooted in cultural insights, producing viral short films and large-scale art installations that explored intersectionality and social justice. His work with notable brands such as Smirnoff, Air Canada, Marriott-Bonvoy, Trojan, The NFL, Adobe, ESPN, and Google Chrome earned Webby, Emmy, and Cannes Lion awards, pushing the boundaries of cultural storytelling.

In his spare time, Alex pursues various creative projects. He is a published writer, with works featured in acclaimed publications like The Tenth Zine, Plantain Papers, and The New Engagement. He has also collaborated with filmmakers and photographers on projects displayed in the Brooklyn, Whitney, and Guggenheim museums.
